Una paradoja sobre uniformidad vs. orden y estabilidad en la medida de la diversidad de especies según la teoría de la información

David A. Siqueiros Beltrones

Resumen

A paradox on uniformity vs. order and stability when the diversity of species is measure accordingly to information theory

On the basis of the species diversity concept coined from information theory, the views on order and uniformity in a taxocenosis are contrasted following the observed and theoretical maximum values of H’. The value of H’ as a measure of information (in bits/taxon within a taxocenosis) is discussed in terms of the entropy of the system. The highest values of H’ show a tendency toward an improbable and thus unstable state in nature, whilst modal values depict a hierarchical order, typical of biotic associations.

Key words: Information theory, H’, species diversity, taxocenosis, diatom, uncertainty, entropy, stability, hierarchy, probability.
