Lingüística evolutiva: Hacia un enfoque modular e internista
Resumen
Evolutionary linguistis: a modular and internalist approach.
This paper tries to establish a theoretical framework for the study of language evolution based upon two central points. First, the abandonment of the continuist thesis inspired by Darwin and the adoption of a modular approach that sustains that language is the outcome of incorporating many independent capacities into a single faculty. Second, the abandonment of the adaptationist thesis, that also starts with Darwin, and the adoption of an internalist approach that understands that the evolution of language has been guided by the resolution of tensions derived from such an integrative process.
Key words: Origin of language, continuism, adaptationism, modularity, internalism.
