Terapia génica: ¿Realidad o sólo un sueño de pipa?
Resumen
Gene therapy: Reality or pipe dream?
The recurring failures in most gene therapy research protocols, in fact in almost all of them, move us to raise the following question: are such failures imputable only to biotechnological problems?, or are there other essential factors involved in this, up to now, unsuccessful process of medical research? In this contribution, we analyze, from an epistemological point of view, the role that the so-called principle of essential indetermination of biological systems can play in many failures, and also the ontological origin of such indetermination and its relation to biological evolution.
Key words: Basic science, applied science, technology, biotechnology, medical research, gene therapy, gene transference, evolution theory.
